The Springfield Chargers from Springfield, Missouri are the 2008 National Champions of the first National Homeschool Football Tournament held Wednesday, November 19 thru Sunday, November 23rd in Panama City Beach, Florida. The Chargers beat the Central Virginia Disciples from Richmond, Virginia 41-22 and the North Georgia Falcons from Canton, Georgia 23 to 14. The Chargers were led by senior quarterback Josh Lohn, who scored on a 11 yard run in the 3rd quarter of the championship game that enabled the Chargers to extent their lead to 16 – 7. Late in the game on 4th down from the 4 yard line, he threw a touchdown pass that made the score 23 to 14, which was the final score. For the 2008 season, Josh Lohn led the Springfield spread offense running for over 700 yards and 13 touchdowns, while passing for over 2,000 yards and 25 touchdowns. In addition to Lohn, Austin Chambers, Daniel Garten, Trent Hosick, Joe Minner and Cody Askins made valuable contributions on the offensive side of the ball. David Beadles handled the kicking chores.
